Rolled up in two neat volumes, Second Love begins with Ryo, a shy, kinda nerdy-type high school guy. He's just gotten 'dumped' by a girl (who is actually just a good female friend of his, whom he had assumed was his girlfriend). But she tells him she's now dating someone else. Basically the story is that Ryo's getting dumped by the girl he loves symbolizes how he is destined to always be unlucky in love. We find out later that this is because of an event that happened many, many years ago.
All of a sudden, while being unwillingly seduced by a tutor of his (who's really hot, IMHO), Ryo is thrown into the past and given a chance to right the wrong that happened so that he may finally fall in love and have it returned.
Enter Ryougi, the popular guy in school. Gorgeous and blond, he's a real ladies' man. I'm not sure if he was interested in Ryo from the beginning or not. It turns out that both Ryo and Ryougi are reincarnations of a fantasy world/medieval king named Saradin (Ryougi) and his protector, Shura (Ryo), who could not love each other properly because of politics, etc. Oh, they had sex a lot, but the king could not devote himself fully to his love because he was busy beguiling alliances to his cause (they're in the middle of a war). He uses his body a lot to acquire their support. So his poor love (who was also his seme! As opposed to Ryo, his reincarnation, who is definitely an uke) could not have him completely to himself.
Confused? There's more! Watching over all this are the blond Sensei and a boy named Rin. They are both reincarnations of the king and his bodyguard as well! It's funny because the bodyguard Shura was always seme, so the boy wants to be seme! It's cute!
It sounds confusing but even if you aren't that great at Japanese, don't sweat it. You'll understand just by the pictures alone and the characters' resemblances to each other. Besides, with all the smut scenes in this one, you may find yourself thinking, "Plot? What Plot?"
