Naive and very polite, he mostly does the boyish voices for various anime but when his latest series ended, his agent got him doing the uke (submissive partner) voices for yaoi CDs! While dealing with this, he also finds out for the first time that he has a 17-year-old son, Nakaya. Nakaya's mother never told Shino she'd had a child (they were only 16) and ended up raising Nakaya by herself. After she died, Nakaya finally got in touch with Shino, though the two are complete strangers. Shino's simple little world has suddenly become so complicated! Also add Tenryuu-san, a very respected, very handsome 35-year-old seiyuu, who is getting divorced. He is the heartthrob in this story IMHO- so cool and mature (that's him in the upper left picture). Such a difference from the classic, sex-driven seme who only wants to get into his uke's pants. Also in the seiyuu crew is handsome Mizusawa who is pure bishounen and openly bisexual. Now Tenryuu-san and Mizusawa have no qualms about showing their interest in Shino, who frets over how he can be a good father with this going on his life. On top of Shino trying to work things out, Nakaya is dealing with his own issues. He has developed an interest in another hockey player in his club, an attractive, but older young man (20's?) named Akihi. Akihi is openly gay, but doesn't want to get involved with Nakaya mostly because he thinks Nakaya is far too young to know what he really wants, and that the boy's feelings are bit too intense and out of control. Despite Nakaya's insisting that he is in love, Akihi is afraid of what he will be left with if Nakaya changes his mind as hotheaded youths are prone to do. Sakende Yaruze! has been called one of Takaguchi's best works, and rightly so. The story is so unique and the emotions are so in-depth, from Shino's being torn between being a good parent and giving in to Tenryuu's sober, genuine advances, and Nakaya's fervent desire for his self-preserving hockey sempai.
