KKH

KKH, one Kodaka-sensei's most popular works, is about teachers and their students, love triangles, true love, puppy love, obsessions and unrequited passion. All with a twinge of humor and some angst. What can you expect from a series notorious for having UST (unresolved sexual tension) up to the very end?
Masayoshi and Masami (Maa-chan) are brothers. Maa-chan is older, quieter, calmer, and more refined than his somewhat wild brother. Atsushi, a high school student, has been very deeply in love with Maa-chan since he was a child and Maa-chan used to babysit him. He even turns down high-level schools to attend a technical high school (low academics) where Maa-chan said he was working in the infirmary in a letter he'd written to Atsushi.
At this new school, Atsushi meets Kouji (his childhood best friend and protector), and once again Kouji, still in love with Atsushi, takes up the role of defending Atsushi from everyone with jealousy.
Following this beginning come a series of little conflicts, ending up with Atsushi falling head-over-heels for Masayoshi, Maa-chan's younger brother, who is the one who actually works in the infirmary. What comes after in later volumes are several adventures and new characters, including pretty Maa-chan and his big-man lover Tohru (a math teacher I believe), Kouji and their female friend Yuriko, who may end up taking Atsushi's place in Kouji's heart! And poor, relentless Atsushi who continues to persue his resistant teacher.
Masayoshi remains one of my favorite characters, no matter how much manga I accumulatre. I simple love how, in a world of yaoi canons (taller seme, weepy uke, etc.) he can straddle the fence so perfectly between those roles. With his older brother (uke to the core, did I mention he's got a bit of a brother-complex?) he could be seme, and yet there is something else that nags in the back of your head. But you have to get to the end of the series to figure it out!
This story spans several years on the timeline, ending when Atsushi, Kouji and Yuriko are in college, and all have grown up considerably (especially cute little boy Atsushi who grows into quite a handsome young man worthy of the label "seme"! Was that a hint? Hmm... You'd better check it out!) The series ended with volume 10.
