Oumi Ranmaru is the 3rd generation boss of his family clan, and he's just gotten married to a beautiful woman he's known since childhood. Unfortunately, it's a marriage of politics and convenience, so they don't love each other, and now they are stuck on a honeymoon cruise ship in Italy together.
Not surprisingly, Oumi is cast out of their stateroom. He ends up in the bar of the ship where he meets Al, a handsome Italian who speaks Japanese and loves the country and culture, therefore, already has an attraction to Oumi, who walks about wearing a wakufu (a traditional Japanese robe). They spend the night together, and thus begins a series of comical events, including Oumi finding out that not only does Al work on the ship, he's also its captain. He keeps running into Al throughout his trip in Italy, and ends up having to be rescued by him before he's auctioned off to a group of lecherous Italian businessmen.
The story is quite funny and light, though it retains some sensitivity on the part of Al's very open feelings for Oumi, and Oumi's reluctant but eventual acceptance. He actually didn't seem so bothered by the fact that Al was a man as just being stubborn and argumental in general. In the end, they know they can't always be together, but a final acceptance of their love for each other means that however often they can meet will be more than enough to keep it alive.
