There's little to say about Fake without just telling the entire plot here. It changes a lot, alternating between conflicts the boys come up against in their job and intermingled with their private lives. Randy McClain is assigned to the criminal investigation at the NYPD's 27th precinct, and promptly gets assigned to work with Dee. Turns out that Ryo is a half-Japanese, and right off the bat, his handsome, yet strange new partner calls him by his Japanese name, Ryo. Dee keeps no secrets about his interest in Ryo from the beginning and Ryo, though the prude he seems to be about things, can't help but be attracted to Dee. In their first assignment together, they come across Bikky, a haughty, rude little street urchin. JJ also makes his entrance as the cute but annoying junior officer who has the major hots for Dee. Later on Carol, 3 years older than Bikky, meets the little guy for the first time. Not to mention Lt. Berkley Rose, who has the hots for Ryo, and FBI agent Diana, who just likes to see Ryo blush.
Though the manga is seven volumes of 'almosts' and 'nice try's', the scenes are extremely sexy. We like to see Ryo flustered and blushing, a writhing uke to the end, only to punch Dee's lights out when he gets crude. If you are at all familiar with the term "UST" (unresolved sexual tension) then this manga is defined by it. A lot of emotion is put into it however, between Ryo's half-hearted resistance and Dee's unwavering perserverence that keeps you reading right until the very end, wondering if they will ever get together...
