Earthian

One of my very first favorites! It's an older title (started in 1988), but I am very glad to see the 'new generation' yaoi lovers are still picking this one up.
Eden, a highly technological planet of ethreal angels has been watching over Earth for thousands of years. Recently, they have noticed that humans have been becoming more and more of a problem. So Eden's Archangels send angels down in pairs to catalogue both the good and the bad points of the earthians. Once the bad points begin to drastically outweigh the good, Eden has promised to destroy Earth. Of course, the earthians don't know this, and it's forbidden for the angels (disguised as humans) to show their wings to anyone.
This is the story of a pair of angels, Chihaya and Kagetsuya. Chihaya, a pretty, good-natured angel is charged to count up the good points of the earthians and is infatuated with humans and their way of life. Important to understand his character, Chihaya's odd black hair and black wings set him apart from the rest of the light-colored angels; he is painfully aware of how different he is. He is also afraid of what is termed 'the black cancer' that killed Seraphim, the rebel Archangel. The mysterious sickness caused Seraphim's wings and hair to turn black before he died. Chihaya isn't sick, but the knowledge and threat of it always hangs over him.
His partner Kagetsuya is to count up all the bad aspects, and he tends to be much more 'down to earth', if you'll excuse the expression ^_^. Tall, strong, blond and blue-eyed, he's usually the one to save Chihaya from some fix he's gotten himself into. Two other important angels are Chihaya's adoptive father, Michael, who rules Eden, and Raphael, a beautiful dark-eyed angel who is Michael's right-hand man. These two have their own battles to fight. There are several other pairs of angels in disguise on earth, not to mention several humans, biohumanoids and other oddities that play a role in the main storyline.
Originally there were five manga in total and three OAVs (Original Animated Versions). Volume 5 ended at a very important point that was never continued with until very recently, when four new books were released. These four have all the original story in them, plus a few added scenes, and finally some afterstory following the original cliffhanger! I highly recommend getting these re-releases, as they are very nice-looking books and contain some stunning new color art!
