Jouichi is trying to break into voice acting and become a professional seiyuu. There's a lot more to the business than talking into a microphone, however; he must find his confidence and 'true' voice. It doesn't help that a former classmate of his, Kazama, is much better than him, and knows it. Kazama is almost his opposite- prideful and cool, and antisocial compared to Jouichi's warm personality. Now they've been cast to work on the same film. Can Jouichi stand up to him before the mic and show his own talent?
Then there are the two veteran seiyuu, Hosaka and Yumi, who have climbed the ladder together to become professionals. Yumi, the eldest and most experienced, is cheerful but wise to the ways of the business, and often wants to help Jouichi along through the trials of self-confidence. Hosaka- cool, quiet and gorgeous- has to tell him to let the newbies figure things out on their own. Hosaka, by the way, has always had a thing for Yumi, but Yumi resists, saying that he doesn't want to ruin a good friendship over some 'fickle feelings'. He can't see yet that his friend is completely sincere, and has been waiting on him for a long time. I actually like Yumi-chan and Hosaka's dynamic as the older and wiser pair, with Hosaka, having the form of Nitta-sensei's classic uber-seme, being younger than him. And I think that Hosaka's easily one of the most attractive characters she's come up with (see pic #4 below)!
It seems to me that Nitta-sensei did a lot of research for this manga on the ways of the seiyuu business, which lends a real quality feel to the story. Also the emotions are strong, from Jouichi's lack of confidence that he must correct before he fails completely, to Kazama's overconfidence, which could bring him down just as hard. You hope they strike a balance with each other... in more ways than one!
