I first saw this mankaga's work in an issue of Beboy Zips and immediately went in search of more from her. Unfortunately, except for this manga and some work in the Zips, most of her other work is in the doujinshi genre, much of it Slam Dunk. But what I saw in the issues of Zips was incredible; I fell in love with her art style instantly. To me it kind of had a stylish-retro, almost 70's feel to it, because many of the characters had the now-trendy flare pants and furry coats, and just seemed to be 'in style'.
This story, "Inner Desire of a 19-year-old", centers around a college swimming club, where a young Olympic level swimmer named Ryuji has just joined. He is here because a shoulder injury prevents him from competing, as far as I can tell. The club's other good swimmer is a dark-haired boy named Naomi, who doesn't appreciate Ryuji's presence here, mostly because he had idolized Ryuji, but since his injury, is now disappointed with him.
However, swimming isn't Ryuji's priority here. Instead, it's taming Naomi, who staunchly resists his advances, sometimes violently. I like Naomi because he's not your typical weepy uke. He beats Ryuji up more often than not before finally submitting to his feelings.
There are three other short stories in this one. My second favorite story is the rather graphic one about musicians and the return of their tormented guitarist who preys upon the pretty lead singer. I like how Sutei draws her blond, long haired semes as well (see pics below).
